If you have a growing smile at home, know that they are always welcome at Advanced Smile Design. Many of our team members are parents themselves, and they each have years of experience treating toddlers, teenagers, and everyone in between. We know that keeping children comfortable during their appointments is paramount, so you can trust that we’ll treat your child just like they are one of our own while we provide all the different services they need. We can’t wait to meet both of you, so call today to schedule their appointment!
We’ll work to completely personalize your child’s care right from the very beginning. Very young children will receive a brief exam and cleaning at their regular appointments, and as they grow and change, so will their care. Our goals will be to protect your child from cavities while also teaching them the basics of oral hygiene so we can help them form healthy habits as soon as possible. And of course, we’ll be happy to answer any questions you might have as well!
As you can imagine, most children are very cavity-prone because they both love sweet treats and don’t exactly like to brush their teeth. While your child is still getting the hang of oral hygiene, we can apply dental sealants to the most vulnerable areas of their teeth to keep them safe from plaque and bacteria. We simply paint on a thin layer of composite resin that quickly hardens into an invisible barrier no one will be able to see. We typically put them on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth as these are the most likely to develop decay due to their location and grooved surfaces.
Regular fluoride exposure starting at an early age has been shown to dramatically lower a child’s risk for cavities, so in addition to their toothpaste, you’ll also find fluoride here at Advanced Smile Design. Whenever your child comes to see us, we’ll briefly coat their teeth with a fluoride varnish that will strengthen their enamel while also repairing any areas of minor decay. It’s one of the fastest and simplest ways to keep your child’s smile healthy year after year.
As a parent, you want to make sure your child wears the right safety equipment every time they go to play sports, but often, young athletes end up with dental injuries because their teeth were left exposed to unexpected impacts on the field, mat, or court. To make sure your child’s smile ends a game in the same condition that it started, our team can provide them with a custom-made mouthguard. It will be specially-shaped to fit their unique teeth, meaning it will be more comfortable and offer better protection compared to any generic guard you’ll find at the store or online.
